Holt Lights and Christmas Market
Christmas Maker’s Market: Saturday, 14th and Sunday, 15th November.
Facebook event link: https://www.facebook.com/events/2699884313565720/
Holt will again shine bright this year and be a reason for people to come into town during the festive season to shop, eat and drink.
The Holt Lights switch-on experience may be a bit different this year but that’s not to say that we can’t celebrate the magic of Christmas. The lights will be strung along the gables, gutters, trees and roofs of buildings throughout the town.
Historic-ambience-meets-winter-style with our first Holt Christmas Makers Market. More than 60 stalls will set up on our pretty Market Place, Appleyard, Fish Hill and Star Plain.
A Community Christmas Market will bring our local charities together in Feathers Yard. Market days are Saturday, 14 November and Sunday, 15 November – 11am to 5pm.

This year we will stage a Pantomime Horse race as part of the ‘Lights On’ evening.
Be you a business, organisation, club or family, please borrow, hire or even purchase a pantomime horse costume (two person version please!). Already some seven horses (amongst other pantomime themed animals) are confirmed runners, but we want more!
Your horse and its colourful handler should join the ‘Owner’s Enclosure’ in front of the stage and war memorial on Holt Market place at 5.30/45pm – the race will commence at ? a dash up the High Street and then back to the memorial – ‘first past the post’ and all that – nonsense encouraged!
Who will win the magnificent silver trophy?
We hope to have media coverage, so do dress you horse in your colours and logos. ‘Betting’ of a kind will be organised to raise funds.

The night time spectacle of Holt bathed under white Christmas lights is truly a sight to behold — one that draws visitors to the town from near and far to marvel at our decorated gables, roofs and window displays. This Wednesday 30th November, the community will come together for the annual switch on — an event that promises to be one filled with entertainment and Christmas cheer.
Once again, the businesses and retailers of Holt will be encouraged to adorn their exteriors with the brightest of lights and Christmas decorations, whilst a Christmas parade, entertainment, food & drink and fireworks are all scheduled to ensure this year’s Holt Lights event goes off with a bang. Of course, none of this would be possible without the gracious commitments from our community.
It comes as no surprise to learn that holding such an event and maintaining Holt’s Christmas lights infrastructure comes with a significant monetary cost over the weeks that the town is lit. The lighting of Holt’s churches, communal areas and Christmas trees alone can total upwards of £2,000.
Whether from Holt or further afield, the Holt Lights committee welcomes any donations from businesses, retailers or individuals. Such donations can make all the difference to ensure the success of the Holt Lights event and make this Christmas one to truly remember for the town.
Support from all concerned is actively encouraged to ensure the continued success and running of present and future Holt Lights events.
To make your contribution, contact the Holt Lights committee — FTAO: Holt Lights, Byfords reception, 1-3 Shirehall Plain, Holt, NR25 6BG
Thank you.
